Sharp builds world's 1st split-screen LCD TV

???

Seeing is believing; and the photos of this device are clearly stunners.

Am I alone, though, in asking for the practical applications for such a device?

I know it would work out in surgical theaters where the surgeon can check the monitor for something while the patient is watching Star Trek.

Brings me to the next problem: is there going to be some sort of directional sound as well? Or will it be limited to visuals only?

This just in: The device will ship at the end of this month and will cost the same amount as two LCD screens.
