There is so much good software out there that we no longer give bad software a chance. Moreover, I personally, hate software written with good intentions, but executed badly!
One such product is the above, the Microsoft P2V Migration Tool for Software Assurance.
Noble intention: a simple way to migrate client systems from P2v.
Reality: You download this tool, only to find out that there are two or three prerequisite tools, a license, and a couple more tools needed to initiate an install! On, any you might need to initiate a pixie (PXE) boot on the target system!!!
Really???
Are you freakin’ kiddin’ me?
Who, really who, at Microsoft thinks this is a freakin’ good idea?
Oh, you think I’m being melodramatic?
Okay, why don’t you multiply this ‘solution’ with, say 15,000 systems?
Do you feel me now?
Whatever team is working on this tool needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with a solution that requires a single initial which downloads all required subsequent downloads, creates a log of all dependencies, and creates an executable or installable archive file containing all files required for a single click install!
That is not too much to ask for now, is it?
Sheeez!
