The Verbatim Quad-Interface Professional Hard Drive, as it is officially known, is one of those devices become immediately useful once you un-box it.
This drive series from Verbatim comes with four connectivity interfaces: USB 2.0, eSATA II, FireWire 400 and FireWire 800.
My review unit with a terabyte of hard drive space. It was enclosed in a sturdy box I have come to expect from Verbatim, and the box contained the drive, a stand, an AC power cord, a user manual, and five cables: a USB cable, an eSATA cable, a FireWire a 6-pin to 6-pin cable (1394a), a FireWire 9-pin to 4-pin cable (1394b Bilingual), and a FireWire 9-pin to 9-pin (1394b Beta) cable.
Since it was all there, all I did was just plug it in.
The Quad-Interface Drive’s (QID) interface options really expanded what I wanted to use the drive for.
I connected it to the USB port on the HP z400 workstation and used it there until I removed it to test the Verbatim InSight drive. From there, it was moved over to the the HP z800 Workstation where I connected it via FireWire. Next, it was connected via eSATA to the Acer Aspire A340 Windows Home Server. Finally, I took it to MedikLabs where I have been using it as the backup device for my remote test systems.
The Verbatim Quad-Interface Professional Hard Drive is a real gamer. It is well-built, fast, and compatible with Windows 7 and just about any operating system out there. The plethora of interface options and included drives is more than the icing on the cake; it makes this portable hard drive a must-have for not only the SOHO users, but anyone who need a fast, multi-interface portable hard drive.
The drive is the recipient of the Business Ready Award of Excellence.
