Russia’s FAS drops antitrust action against Microsoft

When prosecutorial overreach is corrected, it is always a beautiful thing.

Case in point is the dropping, on September 7, of antitrust action related to Windows XP by the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service, FAS.

By applying sensible metrics to Microsoft’s decision to stop selling Windows XP in the Russian Federation, the FAS came to the same conclusion any sapient member of our race should: that no action was needed.

Contrast this sagacious decision with one that the troglodytes at the EU Directorate of Competition would have come up with, given the same circumstances.

Riiight!
