I’ve got my eyes on you: Overland Storage

blackwithlogo- awOverland Storage is a global provider of data management and data protection solutions across the data lifecycle, firmly believing that storage expertise, specialized knowledge, and experience should be built into the storage solutions.

Overland strives to take the complexity out of data management and protection, creating easy and cost-effective methods to manage different tiers of information over time. It helps companies focus on building their businesses instead of worrying about data growth, data loss or data management with SnapServer, SnapSAN, NEO, and REO. These products combined with a dedicated global service and support program from Overland Storage.

Overland's entire line of data management and data protection solutions provide the benefits of simple yet fully featured online, nearline, offline, and archival storage to meet business needs across the data lifecycle, without the typical drawbacks or high cost of ownership.

I was able to glean the following information from Eric Kelly, CEO at Overland Storage.

SmallBizWindows: What are you doing at Overland Storage to continue to excel in your field?

Eric Kelly, CEO, Overland Storage: "We have invested in developing new technology and products which have allowed us to provide broader solutions to our customers, expand our markets, and increase revenue in our strategic products.

This investment in innovation enabled us to deliver an integrated video surveillance solution with Mobotix and introduce two new Snap disk products and one new NEO tape product.

In addition, Geoff Barrall, our new CTO, is an industry expert, having cofounded two successful storage companies, BlueArc and Data Robotics, and was an advisor to Data Domain, which was sold to EMC in 2009.

We have also broadened our channel partner network, enhanced our channel programs, improved lead generation, and redesigned our website.

SmallBizWindows: What products do you see coming to fore shortly?

Eric Kelly: We have expanded our addressable market by entering new market segments such as the video surveillance, and introducing two new products, the NEO S tape product, and the SnapServer S2000, which has allowed us to participate in the storage area network market. These new products and the vertical solutions have allowed us to broaden our data management and data protection offering, enabling us to expand our addressable market from 1.1 billion to what we believe to be 2.2 billion.

In the second quarter of fiscal 2011, we plan to introduce a new line of disk-based products, launch our European configuration and logistics center, design to provide better service to our customers and streamline operations, and expand our global service capabilities.

In the third quarter of fiscal 2011, we plan to continue to refresh the Snap platform -- the first phase of the refresh was the introduction of the N2000 in July -- and enhance our Snap operating system. In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011 we plan to introduce a new tape platform. The first phase of the refresh was the introduction of the NEO 8000E in July."

Products, personnel, alliances, and most of all, innovation.

Now, you know why we are watching Overland Storage.

Thanks to Aaron Endré Quiñones and Bhava Communications for making the interview happen.
