With all the problems – ‘externalities’, to parrot Chandrakant Patel* - in the world today, the sustainability of our datacenters is a goal to be strived for by all.
HP’s new (datacenter) research facility here in Fort Collins is charged with research into discovering news ways of helping us help our world.
There was a lot to see here, and the focus on reducing power consumption, and recovering potentially-lost joules from current and future operations.
My most impressive takeaway so far is the dedication by the researchers here to creating a holistic sustainability strategy and products that can either be slipstreamed into current operations, or be part of a rip-and-replace project.
Way cool.
