For the past several months, we have had an HP Color LaserJet CP6015, both in CP6015dn and CP6015xh versions for review here at SmallBizWindows.
As with the award-winning HP CM6040f MFC, the CP6015 is one big, heavy machine, weighing in at approximately 285lbs just by itself (without the booklet maker accessory).
Based on its capabilities (and girth), I decided to conduct the review at MedikLabs, a fully-functioning pediatric practice in Northern Colorado.
The HP Color LaserJet CP6015dn
The Color Laser CP6015dn is a desktop printer capable of 40 ppm in both color and monochrome (black-and-white) modes.
Being relatively easy, compared to the –xh model, we received this unit, and proceeded to install it at a central location in the clinic.
Installing the CP6015dn was a snap. We unboxed the unit, connected the power and Ethernet cables, and loaded it with paper. I then uploaded the print drivers to a shared network store.
I installed effortlessly to each client computer, and off we went. Since I was in the process of testing Windows 7, then in Beta 1 guise at that point in time, I then installed the driver on the two Windows 7 systems there. As with the Installs on Windows Vista, the Windows 7 installs went off without a peep.
The CP6015 was fast, relatively silent, and very capable. The staff was able to get to work immediately and be productive. Printing out documents in in duplex mode as almost equally as fast.
This printer performed admirably for the several weeks the CP6015dn was in place. As a result, we have given it the SmallBizWindows Business Ready Award.
The HP Color LaserJet CP6015xh
Like Oliver Twist however, I always want more.
When Michelle M. contacted me and asked if I would like to review the multiple tray version of the above printer, the CP6015xh, I jumped at the opportunity.
Not only did the CP6015 show up a few days later, it also came with the booklet-maker attachment!
Niiice!
The CP6015xh also came with a ‘white glove’ install service.
The installer trailed the devices by a day, cam over hand had us humming in just a few. He was courteous and professional, and he didn’t make a joke about why such a monster device was needed in Pohdunck, USA.
The CP6015xh took all the best features of the -dn model, and made them even better with the addition of the extra paper trays and the booklet maker.
We immediately put the device to work. For the past three months, the CP6015dn has been the primary printing device at MedikLabs.
We printed scads of documents, a gazillion appointment cards, several informational brochures, name badges, everything!
The CP6015xh just worked.
Conclusions.
If you want a fast, silent, heavy-duty companywide or departmental printer that outputs at 40 pages per minute in color or black-and-white, look no further than the HP CP6015.
This is a the premier color laser printer your company deserves.
Seriously, you cannot do better.
The editors here have awarded it the SmallBizWindows Award of Excellence*.
But for the fact that it is a fixed-function device, we would have moved it higher. As it stands, it only garners the Award of Excellence because we just cannot give it a greater or similar award to the delectable CM6040f.
However, for print functionality alone, the Hewlett-Packard Color LaserJet CP6015xh is without peer!
