Especially if WinMo is to gain traction off the bat.
In fact, Microsoft should compile a list of the top 1,000 (10,000) apps for the iPhone, and make the porting of the same to Windows Mobile immediately!
It goes without saying that waiving the app fee for Windows Mobile Store (or whatever it is called) for those 1,000/10,000, should be free.
Furthermore, the WinMo team should make resources available to assist those app devs in porting the applications over.
There is a reason why those apps are popular: they evidently work, and people like them.
Make it a starting point for Windows Mobile 6.5.
