We have been reviewing the Epson PowerLite Presenter projector for the past several months, and in a nutshell, we love it!
The Epson PowerLite Presenter
This is a single-piece, multimedia projector with integrated DVD player, speakers, and HDMI connectivity.
When the box first came in, I was a little put off by the size of the device, until I remembered the built-in DVD player.
First good thing: the included DVD player is a slot-loading one, so nothing disturbs the form factor of the projector. It comes with a standard PC-style power cable (good), and a remote control unit. Sadly, it did not come with an HDMI cable.
Initial tests
For the initial test, I connected the PowerLite Presenter to an HDMI loop at the Orbiting O’Odua, and proceeded to watch Star Trek, the 2009 reboot, all over again. The projected movie was crisp and clear.
I next connected it to a system in the home lab that was also connected to a 32” LCD display.
I continually switched back and forth from the projected images to the delivered image on the monitor.
Real World Testing
For real world tests, I took the PowerLite presenter to our Los Angeles offices.
As we were smack dab in the middle of out windows 7 and Office 2010 migrations, one of the migration teams was selected to use the device for a week, and provide feedback.
They loved it.
Initial feedback was that the all-in-one nature of the PowerLite Presenter gave them a standalone training solution that enabled greater mobility of training when they were at client offices. They also did not want to give it up. As if! We rotated the unit through our teams, and found a near-unanimous satisfaction with the PowerLite Presenter.
In fact, they liked it so much; we purchased purchased a few Epson PowerLite Presenter units for my staffers to use in their training missions.
Yeah, they liked it that much!
Conclusions
The PowerLite Presenter has been just about the best accessory we have used in the past six months.
Since we received the PowerLite Presenter back in April, it has not stopped working. It has constantly been used for our Windows 7/Office 2010 training sessions. My staff liked the fact that they could show up with it in their training kit, set up the PowerLite Presenter, play a training video, and attach their laptops to it for live demos.
This unit is relatively silent, portable, and solid. It did all that we required of it, and is very durable, taking abuse from the migration teams.
As a result, it is a recipient of the SmallBizWindows Superstar Award.
