After spending some time in Redmond today, and able to think about the re-branding of Longhorn as Windows Vista, I have to say that it is a great move.
It evokes newness, adventure, and an emotional attachment to the OS.
An overwhelming majority of the people I saw today liked the name, with most of the remainder finding that it was growing on them.
This is a good sign for Microsoft.
And the stealthiness of the name change this early in the (pre) beta process, will allow for a gradual turning up of the sound level in Vista marketing.
This is good.
